Here's a chance to snap up a last-minute cruise around the "stunning" fjords, "undoubtedly Norway's top attractions" (Fodor's), for a lot less than usual. Iglu Cruise has chopped a sizeable 45% off a week-long sailing, taking the price down to £339 per person.
A 7-night sailing on Cruise and Maritime Voyages' adult-only Marco Polo, with all onboard meals and snacks.
Depart from London Tilbury on 25 April. Visit Iglu Cruise's website for more information.
After setting sail, Marco Polo spends a day at sea before arriving in Eidfjord, and then sailing to the village of Flam at the head of Aurlandsfjord. Next, you'll sail through the Sognefjord, the world's longest navigable fjord, to Skjolden and Bergen, with "buzzing Vagen harbour as its centrepiece" (Lonely Planet). The cruise ends back in London Tilbury after another day at sea.
The Daily Telegraph says, "Close-up views from open decks of sheer cliffs, hanging valleys and waterfalls make a fjord trip a must-do voyage for every cruiser."
With around 800 passengers, Cruise & Maritime Voyages' ships are smaller than many other vessels at sea and can therefore access more remote ports of call. Facilities include two restaurants, five lounges, including the Captain's Club for cocktails, an outdoor pool and a wellness centre.
We recently visited Marco Polo and were full of praise for the friendly staff and afternoon tea in Marco's Bistro. We also enjoyed relaxing in the ship's three open-air whirlpools, which we reckon are the perfect place for soaking up the scenery after a day in port.
The price is based on two sharing an Inside Cabin. Upgrade to an Ocean View Cabin for £439 per person. Single Cabins are available for £589.
