Hurtigruten's 12-day Classic Winter Voyage on a full-board basis in an Inside Cabin, with free return flights from London Gatwick (worth £330 per person).
Depart on 1-3, 7, 9-10, 14, 20-21, 23-24, 27, 29 November; 1, 4-5, 27 December. For £198 more per person, you can depart on 4-5, 9-11, 16, 18, 20, 23, 26-27, 30 October.
The cruise starts with a visit to the small coastal town of Alesund, a base for fishing fleets in the region, before sailing on to Trondheim, Norway’s original capital and a "simply lovely city" that "buzzes with life", according to Lonely Planet. Next, you'll cross the Arctic Circle in search for the Northern Lights.
On day five, you'll dock 500km north of the Arctic Circle in Tromso, before heading to Honningsvag, then Kirkenes, from where the ship heads to Bergen, with stops on the way including Vesteralen and Kristiansund.
Cruise line details
"Hurtigruten itineraries are often described as 'the world's most beautiful', as they provide access to some of the most stunning scenery," says Fodor's. The smaller ships can enter fjords and straits that are too narrow and shallow for large cruise liners. Being away from the glare of big cities also increases the chance of seeing the Northern Lights.
