Update (19 Oct, 16:46pm): Due to an increase in flight prices, the price of this cruise on is now £1099 on 11 May, or £1449 on 4 May, 2013.
"Big, beautiful and wildly bountiful", is how Lonely Planet describes Alaska -- but the remote location of the largest US state means trips can often be prohibitively pricey. Not any more, thanks to this offer from Iglu Cruise. For £899 per person you get a 9-night fly/cruise and stay on Celebrity Cruises' 5-star Century, saving £400 on the regular price. A complimentary $25 onboard spend for all guests is also included.
The price is based on two sharing an Interior Stateroom. Upgrade to an Ocean View Stateroom for £100 more or a Balcony Stateroom for £460 more per person. Transfers are not included and cost from £129 per person.
Flights depart from London Gatwick on 4 May, 2013. After landing in Vancouver at 11am -- giving you plenty of time to explore the city -- guests will spend the night at the Sandman City Centre Vancouver hotel before boarding Century for the Alaska sailing. The ship sails through the Inside Passage to Icy Strait Point, Hubbard Glacier, Juneau and Ketchikan and then back through the Inside Passage, before docking in Vancouver for the overnight flight back to London.
Alaska -- also the least-densely populated of all the US states -- is famed for its stark, yet beautiful scenery. Some of the most stunning stops on the cruise include the mountain-backed town of Juneau and the Hubbard Glacier.
In 2006 Century had a $55 million refurbishment and now features a piano lounge and the first ice bar at sea. Other facilities include an AquaSpa by Elemis, a Monte Carlo-style large casino and several fine-dining restaurants. The ship also has a $3.8 million art collection including pieces by Andy Warhol.
The same sailing is available on 11 May for £1099 per person.
