Norwegian Air Shuttle has launched a new direct service from London to Split in Croatia, connecting the two cities for £57, return, including taxes. Other carriers charge up to £147 for weekend departures.
Update (10:04am, 15 November): Availability at the £57 fare in June is now sold out.
Valid for departures on Saturdays from London Gatwick, this deal is available from April-June, 2013. Temperatures in Split, on the shores of the Adriatic, are in the high teens to mid-20s at this time.
The Daily Telegraph urges visits to Split for the "buzzing beaches [and] Roman ruins", such as the palace of the Emperor Diocletian. Lonely Planet highlights the palace as making "a visit to the city more than worthwhile".
The fares include a 10kg hand luggage allowance and a 20kg checked baggage allowance can be added for £30, return.
