Norwegian Air Shuttle has launched a new direct service from London to Split in Croatia, connecting the two cities for £57, return, including taxes. Other carriers charge up to £147 for weekend departures.
This deal is valid for departures on 13 or 27 April from London Gatwick. Temperatures in Split, on the shores of the Adriatic, are in the high teens to mid-20s at this time.
The Daily Telegraph urges visits to Split for the "buzzing beaches [and] Roman ruins", such as the palace of the Emperor Diocletian. Lonely Planet highlights the palace as making "a visit to the city more than worthwhile".
The fares include a 10kg hand luggage allowance and a 20kg checked baggage allowance can be added for £30, return.
