Brazil's busiest metropolis is one of the world's great cities, packed with culture, tasty cuisine and a nightlife that is second tonone. The attractions in São Paulo are scattered around town, but taxis are fortunately cheap and plentiful. The previously rundown Luz district has been revamped as São Paulo’s cultural hub, with the Pinacoteca do Estado at the centre. For more culture, the centre is home to many of the city's historical sights, such as the São Bento Monastery, or head to the São Paulo Art Museum on the edge of Bela Vista.

São Paulo is the place to stock up on Brazilian goods from flip-flops to cachaça (cane liquor). For a budget option, pick up treats at the street markets, or head to the Daslu mall for high-end purchases.  In the evening, São Paulo really comes to life. Sample tasty cusine and cocktails in the affluent Jardins area, or travel to São Paulo's ‘Little Italy’, Bela Vista, for authentic pasta dishes. If you still have some energy left, hail a cab to Vila Olímpia or Vila Madalena two of the best-known nightclubs in town. Remember that 'nights out'  in Sao Paulo rarely start before midnight.

Once you have exhausted this vibrant city, São Paulo povides an excellent jump point for domestic flights to other points of interest in Brazil, including Rio de Janeiro, Recife and the Iguazu Falls.
