Mini Travel Guide to Dalaman

Dalaman is a region in the southwest of Turkey on the Turquoise Coast. Its airport is the gateway to  harbour towns and seaside resorts including Marmaris, Fethiye, Kas and Olu Deniz. The region is home to beautiful beaches, soaring mountains, picturesque fishing villages, traditional hamlets and historical sites.

Turkey’s Dalaman region offers visitors a varied and diverse range of options, from large seaside resorts with the usual package-holiday fanfare and choice of bars, beachside activities, restaurants and nightspots to quiet fishing villages and pretty hamlets. The natural landscape has features including secluded beaches lapped by the Mediterranean, lush valleys, lagoons and lakes. The area also has ancient ruins to explore and hot springs to bathe in.

For British visitors, one of Dalaman’s best-known resorts is Marmaris. This is one of the Turquoise Coast’s most developed resorts and it offers a huge choice of accommodation and entertainment options. Restaurants offer a multinational assortment of dishes and the town is known for its nightlife. The harbour and marina make it a favourite with yachtsmen and boating enthusiasts. Boat excursions are a popular diversion. Fethiye, another popular resort in the region also offers the possibility of boat trips around the bay and to pretty islands off the shore. This is also a good base for exploring ancient sites including tombs, fortresses and an excavated Roman theatre.
