World Travel Guide praises Africa's "attractive countenance of forests, savannah, waterfalls and magnificent national parks that teem with wildlife". Follow in the footsteps of David Attenborough and the critically acclaimed BBC series, "Africa", with a choice of two different half-price family-friendly adventure tours from Dragoman, starting at £815 per person.

Here are the two tours on offer:

19-Day Namibia and Botswana Family Overland... 28 July... £815 per person:

  • Kick off your tour spotting seal colonies on the Skeleton Coast and trekking to see the bush paintings of Spitzkoppe. Then you'll search for the herds of elephant at Etosha National Park and trek up the dunes of Sesriem -- followed by sandboarding at Swakopmund. End your trip at the breathtaking Victoria Falls -- including a canoe safari on the Okavango Delta, a wildlife cruise in Chobe National Park and food gathering with the San Bushmen.

17-Day East African Family Overland... 21 July; 11 August... £890 per person:

  • Begin your trip observing the wildlife of the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, then inspecting the foothills of Kilimanjaro -- learning about the Chagga people at a local education community project. You'll then explore the green Usambara Mountains and hike through hills and local villages, experiencing untouched Africa. Round off your adventure on the remote beaches of the Indian Ocean, followed by a visit to the island of Zanzibar.

Prices include camping or basic hotel accommodation, most of your meals, transfers, transport and English-speaking guides.

Both trips are specifically designed to be family-friendly, although travellers of any age and status can join a tour. Family-friendly tours involve an easier itinerary and "soft-sided" vehicles. There are no single supplements, but solo travellers will be required to share accommodation with group members of the same gender; this will occasionally involve a multiple share.

Tours listed above exclude international flights but we found competitive prices using Fly.com. For the East African Overland tour you could fly into Nairobi Airport and out of Dar es Salaam Airport; and for the Namibia and Botswana Overland tour you could fly into Hosea Kutako Airport and out of Victoria Falls Airport.

Getting There: Click here to get a rarely discounted Mandarina Duck 3-piece luggage nest for £359 instead of the regular £598 -- that’s a 40% saving you can use towards your summer holiday instead.
