Forbes claims "there's no better way to experience America's varied landscape than from behind the wheel", and this US road trip with a £270 saving is just the ticket. For £1129, this 14-night self-drive trip from American Sky includes highlights such as Nashville, New Orleans and Memphis, with all the planning taken care of. Here's what's included:
The trip starts in Atlanta, host of the 1996 Olympic games, where you'll collect the car and spend the night. Your route takes you via Chattanooga and on to home of country music: Nashville. Next stop is Memphis, unofficial rock 'n' roll capital of the world, and a mecca for Elvis fans. You'll find live music venues galore along Beale Street. Brush up on your history at next stops Vicksburg and Lafayette where you can learn about the civil war and the origins of Cajun culture.
The second week takes in the New Orleans, Tennessee, then Alabama's historic capital Montgomery. Then it's onto Savannah, Georgia, a town of grand old mansions and cotton warehouses with a debauched past, and Charleston -- the cradle of the Civil War -- before looping back to Atlanta for the flight home.
Direct flights (including 23kg luggage) depart from London Heathrow on Monday-Thursday from 4 November-10 December. Friday-Sunday departures cost an extra £50.
