The Deal

Kick off spring with a trip to Capitol Vineyards in Delaplane, Va., tucked away in the slopes of Red Oak Mountain, only an hour drive from downtown Washington, D.C. With this exclusive Local Deal, two people can sample a variety of wines with a shareable cheese platter and two glasses of sangria for $15, regularly $36.

Enter the historic tasting room built in the 1800s that was home to the first African-American Postmaster General and served as a general store in the early 20th century for an experience that includes:

• Seven 1-ounce wine tastings each, incorporating both reds and whites like the 2009 Cabernet Franc, 2010 Meritage and 2010 Viognier

• Shareable bread and artisan cheese board featuring locally produced cheeses such as goat, blue or cheddar

• Two glasses of red sangria served chilled with fresh mango and pineapple

Guests are welcome to walk around the grounds or enjoy their sangria on the porch while taking in the scenic countryside views.
