Praised for its "hearty, satisfying flavors," Habana Cuba in San Jose was named by Metroactive as the best Cuban restaurant in the Silicon Valley for 2011. Two can savor the Caribbean-style cuisine with dinner and drinks for $39, regularly $82.

The Mercury News says Habana Cuba has "enchanted diners with its festive, home-style and unforgettable blends of tropical seasonings." Satisfy your palate with dishes from the authentic Cuban menu:

• Shared appetizer, such as tostones, fried crispy green plantains with a garlic dipping sauce; or the tamal cubano, a Cuban corn tamale topped with your choice of beef, pork, chicken or sofrito (up to $6)

• Any two entrees, such as Paella a la Valenciana, Cuban-style paella in a light tomato base with saffron, peas, chicken, tiger prawns, clams and chorizo; or Ropa Vieja, shredded beef stewed in a tomato sauce with green bell peppers, onions and Cuban herbs, recommended by Metroactive

• Two drinks, such as the Cuban Passion with fresh guava and rum, or a glass of red or white sangria (up to $6 each)

All entrees are served with white rice, sweet plantains and choice of chicken soup or mixed salad.
