The Deal

Get a front-row seat to witness some of Washington's most magnificent creatures with an orca whale-watching tour around the San Juan Islands and Puget Sound. For $45 a person, take off for a six- to seven-hour trip with Island Mariner Cruises and roam the ocean in search of orcas, gray whales, peregrine falcons and more, regularly $89 a person.

Island Mariner trips depart at 10 a.m. and return around 4:30 p.m. and utilize a seaplane, which serves as a spotter to direct boats to the best viewing spots. On-board naturalists provide details about the surrounding wildlife. Take advantage of the complimentary binoculars to search the seas for orcas, harbor and elephant seals, tufted puffins, bald eagles, peregrine falcons, sea lions and possibly humpback whales.

Take a break from the sights with a stop at the full snack bar and enjoy complimentary coffee and tea in one of the heated cabins.
