Nestled on the pedestrian-only Belden Place near Union Square, Cafe Bastille offers classic French cooking in an elegant setting, inside and out. Slip away for a vintage French dinner at this cafe Gayot calls "almost a slice of Paris" for $39, regularly $71.

Gayot writes that the best seats at this "French-kissed" cafe are on the patio. With this deal that's valid until late March, dine on the following:

• Two soups, salads or hors d'oeuvres to start like French onion soup; baby beet salad with arugula, red onion and goat cheese; or steak tartare (up to $14 each)

• Any two entrees or specialties, including potato gnocchi with mushrooms and truffle sauce; flat iron steak with caramelized shallots; or fettuccine with fresh mussels, shrimp and smoked salmon
