The Deal

Take advantage of the last few months of white-water rafting season with this Local Deal from Pirate Rafting Company. For $75 per person, embark on a full-day guided rafting trip on the American River, including a barbecue lunch, regularly $170.

Hit the water anytime during the rest of this year's season -- which typically runs through the end of September -- or be one of the first to run the rapids next year when the season starts again in April. The route travels along the Chili Bar Run on the South Fork of the American River, bringing adventurists across an array of rapids, including Class III spots such as the Meat Grinder, Triple Threat and Trouble Maker.

Catch majestic views of the surrounding canyons on this trip that is suitable for beginners and includes a barbecue lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, fruit, salad, chips, cookies, lemonade and water. Trips run daily from Lotus and groups meet at 9 a.m., with the water escapade starting around 10:30 a.m. and lasting until 2-3 p.m.

The rafting season typically ends at the end of September and begins again in mid-April, depending on weather conditions; call ahead to confirm availability. Riders must be at least 8 years old. A minimum of 6 people is required for trips to take place. Subject to severe weather conditions. This deal cannot be combined with any other offer. Must be used in 1 visit.
