The San Francisco Chronicle called the production "A visual feast… remarkably imaginative… a ballet that has the power to change the way you see dance forever." Based on Alexander Pushkin’s novel, "Onegin" is set to a score by Tchaikovsky with lavish scenery and costumes by award-winning designer Santo Loquasto.
