The Deal

TripAdvisor users name La Jolla Cove the top attraction in La Jolla, and KPBS says you'll find "some of the best snorkeling in the world." For $35, Travelzoo subscribers can gear up for a two-hour guided snorkeling tour at the cove's popular underwater sanctuary. This excursion with San Diego Excellent Adventures is regularly $70.

The tour includes use of a mask, wet suit, snorkel and fins. Accompanied by a guide, snorkelers may spot wildlife such as harbor seals, dolphins, sea lions, California spiny lobsters, garibaldi, sea bass, half moon fish, yellow tail, bat rays and guitar fish.

Established in 1970, the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park and Ecological Reserve spans several-thousand acres of ocean bottoms and tidelands. The gentle slope of the ocean floor helps keep waves minimal, providing excellent conditions for snorkelers, with water visibility sometimes as much as 30 feet.
