The trip begins at 8 a.m., when you'll make your way 11 miles upstream by bus. After a brief orientation and safety training, hop aboard a six-person raft and head into intense class III rapids. Then let your heartbeat return to normal with a peaceful float through Marshall Gold Discovery State Park with numerous class II rapids.
This adventure is suitable for beginner and intermediate rafters.
Update: (July 15, 5 p.m. PT): The Lower Gorge Run is a
10-mile, 4-hour river trip on the South Fork of the American River and
departs at 1:00 p.m. (not 8 a.m. as stated above). After a mild start
with class II rapids, tackle some of the largest, size-wise, rapids on
the river. You do not travel through Marshall Gold Discovery State Park
on this run.
