The Fine Print

Vouchers can be redeemed starting Monday, Nov. 21, through May 21, 2012. Reservations are required. Limit 2 voucher purchases per person. Voucher subject to forfeiture if you cancel or reschedule a reservation within 24 hours. Flight times are subject to availability and weather permitting. Must be at least 18 years old to fly or accompanied by an adult. Weight limit is 450 lbs. per flight. Voucher must be used in 1 visit. This deal cannot be combined with any other offer. Voucher cannot be redeemed on major holidays. Tax is not included. No cash value or cash back. 

The Deal

Soar over scenic areas of Los Angeles with this flight deal from Encore Flight Academy in Van Nuys. For $89, take control of the cockpit and receive a 40-minute flight lesson from a FAA-certified pilot, regularly $200. Types of planes used for flight instruction may include Piper, Cessna, Diamond and Cirrus.

Take the lesson day or night, including during sunrise and sunset. Students will admire the iconic views of the Hollywood sign, Malibu coastline, downtown LA and more. Go home with a logbook, instructor endorsement and digital photo to remember the experience.

Or go for the 90-minute option, which includes 30 minutes in a classroom, 20 minutes in a high-tech flight simulator, and the 40-minute flight lesson for $140, regularly $380. The classroom session teaches about basic aerodynamics of flight, airplane control and cockpit instruments. With this second deal, students can use the simulator to  experience conditions that are otherwise impossible to duplicate during regular training.
