For $79, take the controls of the cockpit with this Local Deal for a 40-minute private fight lesson with an FAA-certified instructor over Los Angeles. This hands-on experience with Encore Flight Academy, departing from Van Nuys Airport, is regularly $200.

Choose to schedule the lesson during the day or at night, including during sunrise and sunset. From the pilot's seat, admire views of iconic LA landmarks like the Hollywood sign, Malibu coastline, Santa Monica Pier and downtown skyline. At the end of the lesson, you'll receive a logbook, instructor endorsement and digital photo to commemorate the experience. Types of planes used for flight instruction may include Piper, Diamond and Cirrus.

Or for $149, get the flight lesson with simulator time and bring a friend along to experience it with you. Normally $380, this package includes the same 40-minute hands-on flight lesson as above, 30 minutes of ground training and 20 minutes in Encore's newest state-of-the-art flight simulator, which is full motion and features 200-degree views.
