The Deal

Experience contemporary Northern Italian fare at Treva Restaurant and Bar, which the Hartford Courant says delivers "imaginative food" that is "expertly prepared." For $49, two people can dine at this OpenTable Diners' Choice winner that Chowhound calls a "gem," regularly $98.

Take in the cream, black and burgundy dining room that Hartford Magazine says creates a "warm, rustic and casual" ambience and select:

• One shared appetizer, such as grilled octopus with potatoes and arugula; or cast-iron-cooked artichokes dressed in warm lemon-caper butter

• Two entrees, like T-bone strip served with a selection of Tuscan vegetables; scallops served with cauliflower risotto and olives; or the house-made tagliatelle with veal, mushrooms and asparagus

• Two drinks, such as beer, wine or signature cocktails like the Lavender & Lace (Huckleberry vodka, Creme de Violette, hibiscus syrup and egg white foam) or the Treva Manhattan (Bulleit Bourbon and Cointreau served in a bacon, cocoa and horseradish rimmed glass)

Treva is Italian for handcrafted, which is evident in the fresh pastas prepared by executive chef and owner Dorjan Puka, who's known to occasionally pass through the restaurant and chat with diners.
