The Fine Print

Vouchers can be redeemed starting Saturday, Dec. 17, through April 22, 2012. Brunch is available on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Limit 1 voucher per table, per visit. Not valid on holidays. Kids under 3 years old eat free. Must be 21 years old or older to drink alcohol. This deal cannot be combined with any other offer. No cash value or cash back. Must be used in 1 visit. Dine-in only.

The Deal

"You couldn't find a sweeter, more sincere, more gratitude-filled cafe on the planet," describes the San Francisco Chronicle about Spice Monkey in Oakland. Settle into this cozy neighborhood restaurant for a weekend brunch for two with drinks for $19, regularly $40.

Recently debuting its brunch just last month, Spice Monkey utilizes local, organic ingredients across the menu, with an international twist -- owners Kanitha Matoury and Guy Karmi travel the world to taste and test different dishes and bring their findings back for the diverse Spice Monkey menu. On Saturday or Sunday, guests can dine on:

• Two brunch entrees, such as farm eggs any style with chicken apple sausage or bacon; the signature S.O.S. dish, homemade green onion biscuits with sausage gravy, poached egg and chives; or the Shuk Shookah, Spice Monkey’s version of a Middle Eastern classic: vegetable ragout, tomato sauce, poached eggs and toast

• Two drinks, such as a Soju Bloody Mary or a fresh-squeezed mimosa (up to $6.50 each)

• Two coffees or teas (up to $3 each)

Spice Monkey is housed in the historic Howden & Sons Tile Company building, which was owned and operated by master tiler Robert Howden Sr. from 1893 to 1926 and was officially declared an Oakland Historic Landmark in 1984.
