The Deal

Mare Island Golf Club graced the cover of Golf Guide in 2010, which said "there is no location quite like this island that affords 360-degree views of San Pablo Bay and the hills ... that frame it." Tee off at this classic, par-70 Vallejo course for $25, and also get cart rental, a bucket of balls and two beers, regularly $58.

Golf California also recommends the 6,150-yard links for its "hardy elevation changes [and] supreme views." Established in 1892, Mare Island Golf Club is the oldest course west of the Mississippi, renovated in 2000 by renowned architect Robin Nelson, a former "Architect of the Year" (Asian Golf Monthly).

Make it a group outing and for $95, four people can hit the green with one cart, four buckets of balls and two beers each. This package is regularly $190.

Travelzoo Tip: Take a break at the 11th hole as it offers breathtaking views of Mt. Tamalpais and San Pablo Bay from the highest elevation on the course.
