The Deal

Gayot ranks Seagrass Restaurant among the "best Santa Barbara Valentine's restaurants," and Zagat calls it the area's "best seafood." Now, two can dine at this top-rated eatery with an $89 five-course chef's dinner for two that's regularly $190.

This "Menu Gastronomique" is comprised of a rotating selection of dishes carefully crafted by Chef Robert Perez. He uses the freshest local ingredients from the Santa Barbara Fish Market and local farmers markets to create menus like this recent one:

First course: Sashimi of scallop with Santa Barbara sea urchin, fennel basil puree, shaved fennel salad and yuzu pudding

Second course: Champagne- and butter-poached Maine lobster on pommes puree with lobster emulsion

Third course: Poached black cod with golden chanterelles, baby bok choi and a lemongrass ginger sauce

Intermezzo: Sage, blackberry and gin cocktail with a CO2 canister that foams into a glass, paired with mandarin sorbet draped in mandarin chili-flake jelly and Champagne to cleanse the palate

Fourth course: Kurabuta pork cheeks with slowly braised pork belly, star anise and coriander with infused jus, baby sweet peas, scallions and ginger served on a risotto cake

Fifth course:
Almond financier served warm with organic mixed berries, lemon mousseline and a salted warm caramel sauce
