- Each lesson starts with a half hour of pre-flight instruction that introduces the basic principles of flight. After learning about the mechanics of the aircraft, the student and instructor climb into the cockpit and takeoff from Lawrence Municipal Airport in North Andover. Students get the opportunity to take the controls after the plane is airborne and learn to climb, make turns and enter the flight pattern upon return to the airport. Participants can even assist the instructor as the plane lands safely on the runway.
