The "Hindemith, Liszt and Prokofiev" performance features the suite from "Romeo and Juliet," and the "Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky" concert includes the latter's Symphony No. 5, the second of his well-known last symphonies.

Select Orchestra, First and Second Balcony tickets are $30, regularly $49-$104, for the following 8 p.m. performances:

• "Hindemith, Liszt and Prokofiev" -- Thursday, Jan. 24
• "Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky" -- Thursday, Jan. 31; Saturday, Feb. 2; Tuesday, Feb. 5

The Boston Symphony Orchestra has performed throughout the United States, as well as in Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, South America and China. Now in its 132nd season, the Boston Symphony Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in 1881.
