Baleen is one of the few oceanfront restaurants in L.A. with full views of the Pacific, and features a "cozy, seductive interior," says Gayot, and a patio overlooking the marina. Select from this specially crafted brunch menu:

Two appetizers:
• Strawberry and yogurt parfait with honey, lemon and granola
• Crisp calamari with lemon, smoky cocktail sauce and tartar
• Arugula salad with poached pear, goat cheese, pistachios and a maple vinaigrette
• Smoked salmon on a crostini with boursin, tomato, red onion and capers

Two main courses:
• Pain perdu with a french toasted baguette, brown sugar mascarpone and strawberries
• Classic eggs Benedict, recommended by LA.com
• Huevos redondos with a black bean quesadilla, fried eggs, avocado, romesco, feta and cilantro
• Fish tacos with seared snapper, cabbage slaw, avocado, pico de gallo and cilantro
• Linguine with shrimp and chorizo, garlic, tomato, Parmesan and herb butter
