The Deal

Explore the scenic trails of the historic Kennesaw Mountain area -- site of the Civil War's Battle of Kennesaw Mountain -- with this Local Deal led by hiking guide and enthusiast Reggie Mitchell. For $15 per person, this 2.5- to three-hour guided hike includes lunch and is regularly $40.

The excursion begins at the park's visitor center where Reggie will give a brief introduction. Then let the trek begin as Reggie shares facts about the history of the area. Midway through the hike -- which is appropriate for all ages and covers about 6.2 miles -- take a break to enjoy a picnic lunch of sandwiches and trail mix. Hikers can catch rare views of the Atlanta skyline at the top of the mountain, which stands more than 1,800 feet above sea level.

For $25, regularly $80, get the same deal for two people; or get a group together and 10 people can enjoy the experience for $109, regularly $400. Hikes typically run once a month on specific dates; check the online schedule.
