Trade white snow for white sand this Christmas at a newly renovated tropical resort in St. Thomas.

For $1253, stay for seven nights, Dec. 21-28, at the Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort in a room with a private balcony and water views. This breaks down to $179 per night -- when rates at this resort can top $500 per night in winter.

Also included in this special is a $200 resort credit that can be used on activities, dining and spa services.

Set majestically on a promontory overlooking the harbor, this resort is a "high-rise, full-service superhotel," according to Fodor's, and boasts multiple on-site restaurants, a newly expanded spa and infinity pools.

Guests can paddle to Pirates Point at sunset in a see-through kayak that illuminates as the sky turns to night. For a daytime excursion, take a gondola ride to Paradise Point for panoramic views of the harbor, or a quick boat ride to the island’s main town, Charlotte Amalie, to experience the vibrant local culture.

Note: A seven-night stay is required. There is a $35 per-room daily resort fee that covers aerobic classes, two bottles of water daily, Wi-Fi and watersport rentals (paddleboats and snorkel gear).
