Friendly faces, delicious dishes and centuries of history beckon visitors to Charleston, where this "favorite local landmark" (Fodor's) is cutting prices by up to 40%.

Check in to The Mills House Wyndham Grand Hotel for $109 per night, Sundays-Thursdays Nov. 17 - Feb. 27, and stay in a newly renovated room on a higher floor. Weekend stays are $70 more per night.

The city of Charleston rarely sees discounted rates and keeps racking up accolades -- recently ranked the Friendliest City in the U.S. by Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Survey and the Top City in the U.S. in Travel + Leisure's 2013 World’s Best Awards.

Just around the corner from famed King Street shops and the city's "Museum Mile," the hotel boasts a prime historic district location. The aquarium is a five-minute drive away and the College of Charleston is a 15-minute walk.

This deal is not available on: Nov. 27-29; Dec. 6, 13-14, 28-31; Feb. 14-15.

Note: Weekends require a two-night minimum stay.

Travelzoo Tip: Charleston's Restaurant Week runs Jan. 8-19, and features three course menus at eateries across the city, including the hotel's Barbadoes Room.

Book by Nov. 24.
