Where to Stay in Syracuse

Syracuse is a major hub for the arts, academia and business conventions. No matter what draws you to this central New York city, you can find a hotel that meets your needs. If you're in town for business, search for affordable hotels in downtown Syracuse. This centrally located area is home to many of the city's major businesses as well as the Oncenter, a three-building convention and entertainment complex. If you also want to stay near shops, restaurants and bars, book reservations at a hotel near Armory Square. Located in western downtown, this pedestrian-friendly part of the city is home to a large selection of retailers and historical landmarks. If you're planning on spending time at Syracuse University, compare hotel rates at hotels located on and around campus. For budget travelers in search of discount accommodations, search for budget hotels east of Syracuse along Interstate 690. If you're flying into the Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC), you may want to compare hotel rooms in Rochester, which is only about an hour-and-a-half west of Syracuse.

Syracuse Hotel Tips

Syracuse is host to many festivals throughout the year. One of the largest celebrations is the Great New York State Fair. Held every summer near the end of August, this 12-day event features music concerts, art exhibits, demonstration booths and various competitions. If you are planning on attending the fair, you will want to search for Syracuse flight deals and hotel discounts months in advance. Syracuse is also host to one of the largest car shows on the East Coast, the Syracuse Nationals Car Show. Held on the New York State Fairgrounds, the car show welcomes thousands of car owners and car enthusiasts from around the world. If you're planning on attending, book hotel reservations far ahead of time to ensure availability.

Budget travelers in search of the best hotel deals should consider a wintertime visit. Temperature drop well below freezing, and the city experiences ample snow from November through March. As a result, many accommodations reduce their rates to attract out-of-towners.
