Where to Stay in Seattle

Whether you wish to stay in the lap of luxury or among hip coffeehouses and artists, you can find a Seattle hotel that suits your personality. If you’re traveling for business or with family, you may want to search for rooms in the city’s bustling downtown district. This area, which is Seattle’s center of commerce, features a number of family-friendly attractions, including the towering Space Needle and the Seattle Aquarium.

For a touch of class, make reservations in Seattle’s Belltown community. Located on the edge of downtown, you’ll be nestled among upscale condos, art galleries and high-end restaurants. If shopping is your thing, the Belltown neighborhood has some of the best boutiques in the city.

If you want to run with a younger crowd, stay in Seattle’s Capital Hill neighborhood. This densely populated community is the center of Seattle culture. Independent coffee shops, local artists and alternative nightclubs call this area home, making it a perfect destination for the hip and trendy traveler.

Seattle Hotel Tips

Seattle is known for its wet weather. If you don’t mind a little precipitation, you can find cheap flights to Seattle and hotel accommodations during the rainiest months, which stretch from fall to spring. The summertime is the most sough-after season for vacationers. With its mild weather, the northwestern metropolis attracts many West Coasters from May through September.

One of Seattle’s biggest draws is its annual SeaFair summer festival, which lasts from late July through early August. The festival features parades, numerous cultural and arts events as well as an amazing air show. Search for reservations well in advance as hotels can fill up fast.

For those that want easy access to many of Seattle’s top attractions, search for rate deals at one of Seattle’s many downtown hotels. The boutique features a unique virtual golf facility that enables links lovers to play more than 50 world-class courses from the comfort of the hotel. Hotel 1000 also provides a number of unique service offerings, including spa treatments and childcare. Pets are welcome.

Book a stay just north of Seattle’s downtown at the exclusive Pan Pacific Hotel. This high-end hotel provides guests with a sleek and modern setting that fits right in with the surrounding Belltown neighborhood. Guest rooms provide breathtaking views of the city and are equipped with Egyptian cotton bedding and elegant oversized soaking tubs.

If you’re looking to save some money, stay in Capital Hill at the Gaslight Inn. This affordable bed and breakfast provides visitors with an in-ground heated pool, continental breakfast and uniquely outfitted guest rooms. You can often find cheap reservation deals from October through February.

Seattle Transportation

Seattle is mainly a city for drivers, but the urban area does offer several mass transit options for those looking to get out from behind the steering wheel. The Seattle Center Monorail is the country’s first full-scale commercial monorail system. The monorail transports passengers from the shops at the Westlake Center to the Seattle Center, the home of such attractions as the Space Needle and the Pacific Science Center. The city also boasts a light-rail system that takes visitors between Seattle and nearby Tacoma. Save yourself a cab ride by riding the train’s Central Link from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to downtown Seattle. Seattle also has a streetcar network, which runs from Westlake Center through the South Lake Union neighborhood.
