Where to Stay in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City is a bustling metropolis that boasts a population of approximately nine million. This large, sprawling city features a range of hotels, from discount hostels to luxury boutiques. No matter what suits your tastes, you will be able to find it in Ho Chi Minh City. Most tourists choose to stay in District 1. This centrally located area of town is where many of the city's most popular historical sites and attractions are located. Here, you will find such landmarks as the grand Reunification Palace. If you want to stay in a piece of Vietnamese history, book reservations at one of the city's historic hotels. Some of these facilities date back to the nation's French-colonial period. If you are looking for a clean and comfortable stay that won't break your budget, search for affordable accommodations near Ben Thanh Market. This vibrant downtown shopping district is home to a couple hundred vendors who sell everything from silk textiles to hand-carved bowls. Many of the hotels around the market are reasonably priced and provide modern amenities. Ho Chi Minh City also boasts a number of high-end luxury hotels. These four- and five-star accommodations are located throughout the city, though the majority are clustered near District 1. Or, if you want convenient access to Dai Nam Van Hien, the largest amusement park in Vietnam, search for hotels in the Binh Duong Province.

Ho Chi Minh City Hotel Tips

If you are planning on traveling to Ho Chi Minh City in January or February, make sure to search for flight deals to Ho Chi Minh City and hotels far in advance. This period marks the Tet Holiday, one of the largest celebrations tin the country. The holiday is so popular that hotels and flights are often full months ahead of time.

Ho Chi Minh City is fairly hot and wet throughout the year. In fact, annual temperatures rarely fluctuate much outside of the 70-degree to 90-degree range. However, the region does experience a dry season that lasts from about late November through April. If you are visiting during this season, book reservations well ahead of time to ensure availability. From May through October is Ho Chi Minh City's rainy season. Average rainfall can easily reach more than a foot during some months. However, accommodations frequently reduce their prices, making this a good season for budget travelers.
