Where to Stay in Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi is Texas' largest coastal city. The city of about 300,000 residents serves as the main gateway to the resort community of South Padre Island. It also boasts an impressive art scene, miles of beautiful beaches and dozens of activities and attractions to keep visitors entertained. If you are planning a trip to Corpus Christi, consider booking reservations at one of the many luxury hotels within the Bayfront district of downtown. This area, which stretches about two miles along Shoreline Boulevard, provides travelers with convenient access to many of the city's top attractions, including the American Bank Center, the South Texas Institute for the Arts and the Corpus Christi Museum. It is also right along the Gulf of Mexico, providing guests with stunning views of the water. If you plan on spending plenty of time sunbathing, swimming and enjoying the beaches, search for affordable hotels north of downtown in the North Beach neighborhood. This district, which boasts the USS Lexington Museum and the Texas State Aquarium, claims a number of upscale resorts and budget accommodations. Business travelers can find rooms at the many hotels located along Texas State Highway 358. Here, you can compare rates at one of a number of national corporate hotel chains, including Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Days Inn and Courtyard by Marriott.
Corpus Christi Hotel Tips
Each April, Corpus Christi hosts a large celebration known as the Buc Days Festival. The event lasts for more than a week and includes a variety of entertainment, including parades, food tastings, cooking competitions, live concerts and a rodeo. Additionally, because the nearby island of South Padre Island is such a popular Spring Break destination, hotel rates can peak during this season. If you are planning on visiting during the spring or early summer, make sure to book your hotel reservations several months in advance to ensure availability.
If you'd like to beat the crowds, consider a trip to the coastal city in the late fall or winter. Unlike most areas of the country, Corpus Christi remains relatively warm during this season, though not necessarily warm enough to lounge on the beach. High temperatures usually range from the mid 60s to the mid 70s, while lows rarely fall below the 40s. This is one of the best times to search for cheap flights to Corpus Christi and hotel deals. It's also an ideal season to visit the city's many indoor attractions and parks.
