Chicago is famous for its elevated railway system known as the “El.” The El features a total of eight color-coded lines, which provide cheap transportation throughout the city. If you are arriving from O’Hare International Airport, you can take the Blue Line right into downtown. For those entering from Midway Airport, you can take the Orange Line to the Loop.
Chicago also boasts scores of buses that crisscross through the city’s grid-like streets. Certain express routes can pick you up downtown and transport you to North Side attractions within 15 to 20 minutes.
There are also options for those that don’t want to wait on trains and buses. Taxis are always an option, especially for those traveling from O’Hare, Midway, downtown or McCormick Place, a popular spot for trade shows and conferences.
