Where to Stay in Caracas

Caracas is the largest city and capitol of Venezuela. Its unique position in a valley just south of the Caribbean Sea provides it with pleasant temperatures and beautiful vistas of its neighboring mountains. The city itself is an expansive cultural hub with many nationalities represented in its many neighborhoods. These neighborhoods cater to business and leisure travelers alike. If you want to stay near the historic part of the city, where much of the centuries-old colonial architecture remains, you can search for hotels near Plaza Bolivar. The plaza is located near several important landmarks, including the Federal Capitol and National Pantheon. For those that want to be near the city's vibrant arts scene, you can find luxury boutiques near the Parque Central Complex. This district is home to a number of museums as well as the Teresa Carreno Cultural Complex, one of the most significant performance arts spaces in the country. South of the Parque Central Complex is the Sabana Grande region of the city. This neighborhood is pedestrian-friendly and features a number of shops and restaurants. If you prefer an upscale stay, compare hotel prices in the eastern part of the city. Neighborhoods such as Altamira and Las Mercedes offer visitors a large selection of exclusive hotels and fine restaurants. These districts are also shopping hotspots and claim some of the most vibrant nightlife options in the bustling metropolis.

Caracas Hotel Tips

Although Caracas' weather is warm year-round, the city does experience a rainy and a dry season. For many travelers, the best time to visit is from December through April. This is when the city experiences its driest weather with a total of no more than six to seven rainy days per month on average. Temperatures during this drier period float between the mid 50s and the high 80s. If you plan on visiting during this popular season, search for hotels a couple of months in advance at least.

The rainy season begins in May and doesn't let up until December. In fact, the months of June through August often receive as much as 19 days of rain per month on average. In addition, temperatures remain high during the day. Although the weather may not be as cooperative during this wet season, travelers can often find the best Caracas flight deals and hotel rates. November and December are especially good months for budget travelers as the rain begins to taper off and temperatures begin to drop.
