Last night, viewers of ABC's "The Bachelorette" watched as Emily Maynard got engaged on a street corner in Curaçao -- a quaint Caribbean island that's received scores of accolades in the past year, including a spot on Frommer's Top Destinations for 2012.
Besides its 35 beaches and top-rated diving spots, this island offers a fascinating mix of cultures (locals widely speak four languages) and centuries-old historical buildings. One such spot: Sandton Kura Hulanda Hotel & Spa, a villagelike resort with restored buildings that showcase 17th and 18th century Dutch Architecture. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site.
"The Bachelorette" fans will recognize this hotel immediately: Last night's proposal happened in the resort's village square.
Walk in the steps of Maynard and her suitors with these Travelzoo deals from our Curaçao Featured Destinations page. One of the specials is a five-night hotel package that includes two dinners at spots featured on "The Bachelorette."
