Get Lower Room Rates during Miami's Peak Season

Without the Super Bowl in town this year, visitors to Miami and Fort Lauderdale saved some extra bucks.

Hotel room prices for the week between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5 averaged $174.41, compared with $247.90 for the same week in 2010, The Miami Herald reported this week. Last year, that price accounted for the days leading up to game day on Feb. 7, when the Saints played the Colts in Miami. Numbers were based on Smith Travel Research statistics.

That's good news for travelers this year, even as the parade of Miami events -- the Miami International Boat Show, South Beach Wine & Food Festival and Winter Music Conference -- continues to draw large crowds during peak tourist season.

Even better, Travelzoo has found Miami deals that are lower than this year's average price. Visit the Miami and Florida hotel section to scout out savings in South Florida. Rates start at just $39 a night.
