Summertime Deals for Vacationers & Staycationers

With the summer solstice here and temperatures creeping over the 90-degree mark across much of the country, the Deal Experts at Travelzoo don’t likely need to remind you that yes, summer is upon us once again. We would like to remind you, however, of all the fun things around the country there are to do during summer.

Whether you're planning a vacation somewhere in the country, the continent or abroad, or taking a few staycation days, there’s definitely no better time to take a look at all the activities for which we’ve negotiated Local Deals to use through the summer months.

Here’s a few of our favorites -- and keep your eyes peeled for more deals on activities and experiences added throughout the coming weeks.

Boston: Set sail on a 58-foot schooner with this cruise along the waters of the Atlantic. Departing from Gloucester, subscribers can save over half off a trip for one, or get together a party of four and save more $90 on this two-hour sailing experience.

CA Central Coast: Cruise the Channel Islands and observe wildlife like whales, orcas, sea lions and maybe even sharks with this deal from Channel Islands Whale Watching. On this SeaFari cruise, subscribers save over half off the normal $80 rate, with breakfast or lunch included on the 4-hour tour.

Chicago: It may be sweltering in the Windy City, but subscribers can see the city’s sights in luxurious air conditioning with this deal from Gray Line Tours. Hop aboard a coach bus (departing from the Palmer House Hilton in the heart of the Loop) and check out the Magnificent Mile, Grant Park, and sights on the North and South Side in comfort for just $19 per person.

Detroit: One doesn’t usually think of the Motor City as much of a watersports destination, but Walled Lake offers a great place to learn to paddleboard standing up with an after-lesson appetizer and drinks included with this deal from That’s wasSUP and Bayside Sports Grille. Real Detroit Weekly calls the location “killer” and the price is pretty great too – just $39 per person, regularly $80.

Hawaii: At Travelzoo, not all the adventure is above the waves. For $69, spend some time beneath the sea with this deal for a Discover SCUBA class from Honolulu’s Ocean Legends, with no certification required. This is a great way to try diving without spending all the money required on gear, classes, and time in the water. What happens if you love diving and decide you want to get certified while you’re on the island? We’ve also negotiated a deal to save $130 on a PADI Open Water course as well.

Las Vegas: Summer is all about road trips, and with this deal drivers can spend an hour on a trip outside Sin City that they likely won’t forget. For $99, take a seat behind the wheel of a Ferarri F430 and cruise through Vegas for 25 minutes of driving time. Save over $150 on the experience which includes a choice of routes on the highway or along the strip, as well as a commemorative photo of the drive.

San Francisco: Head to the hills outside SF and combine whitewater and wine – not at the same time, though. With this deal, we’ve negotiated a savings of nearly $190 on this rafting trip from Mariah Wilderness Expeditions, that includes trips to up to five wineries followed by a day on the American River.
