Plan a Last-Minute Family Summer Vacation

Unlike some parents, I get “back-to-school-blues.” I adore the freedom that summer provides my family. No worrying about making sure homework is finished. No project deadlines to put on the calendar -- just a laid-back, take-your-time vibe. About the time I start thinking about shopping for school clothes for my kiddo, I start thinking about squeezing in one last summer vacation.

Even if you don’t get the “back-to-school-blues” like I do, check out these family-friendly deals that will allow you one last moment of bliss before the hustle and bustle of the school year kicks into high gear:

  • This $129 Pocono Mountain escape has something for everyone and it includes a $40 dining credit.  Pack a swim suit so you can hit up the nearby waterslides.
  • Adults and children alike will appreciate an upgraded oceanview room at the Courtyard Kaua'i at Coconut Beach at 45% off regular rates.
  • Not only is WorldQuest Resort less than two miles from Walt Disney World, it was picked as one of the best family properties in the U.S. in the 2012 Travelers' Choice Awards. Rates are $99-$109 and the suites here sleep up to six.
  • The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch has both rooms and cabins, and some can sleep up to 10 guests. This deal is $495 per adult and $250 per child and includes all meals and beverages (including alcohol) and unlimited activities from skeet shooting to Nordic skiing to yoga.

After you've picked your place, check out deals on rental cars and U.S. airfare.
