NHL Alumni & NYPD Take to the Ice for Hurricane Sandy Relief

Whether you’re rooting for the heroes or the legends, you can support the cause of next week’s "Rivals for Relief" hockey contest.

A matchup that features former Rangers, Devils and Islanders taking the NYPD hockey team, the proceeds from “Rivals for Relief” go to several Hurricane Sandy-related charitable causes.

Travelzoo subscribers can attend the game -- at noon on Sunday, March 24, at Madison Square Garden -- for $30-$37.25, regularly $65-$90, for Promenade 100 level tickets. Former NHL players slated to take the ice include Dan Blackburn, Ken Daneyko, Ron Duguay and Jim Dowd.

The Stan Lee Foundation will be donating 70% of the net proceeds from the hockey game to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City in support of hurricane relief efforts; 15% will be going to the NYC Police Foundation to help those in the NYPD family who have been devastated by the storm; and 15% to the Stan Lee Foundation for an after-school program for the children impacted by the storm.
