Sometimes, the best activity deals are in your own backyard ... or America's backyard, otherwise known as our national parks.
For just $10, senior citizens at least 62 years old can get a lifetime pass to more than 2,000 national sites, including national parks and forest reserves.
The sites included in the pass are managed through five Federal agencies:
Sometimes the national parks or Federal recreational lands charge additional fees for activities such as camping, swimming and fishing. Discounts on some of these additional fees are also available with the Senior Pass, and it includes reduced rates on certain guided tours.
As a bonus, pass holders can visit the many sites with their families and friends. It admits the holder plus three adults to any site where entry fees are charged, and all passengers in a non-commercial vehicle where vehicle fees apply. Children are always free at sites with entry fees.
The pass can be obtained by mail order, online, or in person at several locations nationwide. For more information, visit https://store.usgs.gov/pass/senior.html.
