It's Prime Time for Manhattan Ice Skating

Strapping on a pair of skates is part of the quintessential New York winter experience. Newbies and skilled skaters alike should check out these three popular ice skating rinks. Skate rentals and skating lessons are available at all three.

The Pond in Bryant Park: This free skating rink is a destination unto itself. Make a day (or night) out of it by also checking out the outdoor artisans market or sip a hot toddy at Celsius, a glass enclosed restaurant, bar and lounge. The Pond has extended hours through Dec. 30.

Rockefeller Center: Glide by the city’s most famous giant Christmas tree on a pair of skates. Because this rink is capped at 150 skaters, it's s fun and intimate experience in the middle of Manhattan.

Trump Wollman Rink in Central Park: Nothing is more iconic than skating in Central Park with the city skyline in the background. This popular skating rink may be crowded during peak weekend times so choose a weekday if you need more to practice those triple axels.
