Holiday Baggage Restrictions

The holidays are coming! Before you pack every last holiday sweater and buy that huge gift, check the baggage costs of the airline you are flying. One of the fastest ways for that cheap ticket you booked to go up in total costs is to have to pay fees once you’ve arrived at the airline.

Some airlines also tag on extra fees during the holiday season. These includes:

• American Airlines: If you’re traveling to Mexico, Latin America And Caribbean between Nov. 19, 2011 - Jan. 10, 2012, you could end up paying extra baggage fees.
• Porter Airlines: Permits one carry-on bag and one checked baggage – between Dec. 15, 2011 - Jan. 8, 2012, all additional baggage is subject to fees.
• Delta Airlines: If traveling with a pet during extreme weather (summer or winter) be careful! Delta has does not accept animals as checked baggage during extreme weather.

And, don't forget to leave presents unwrapped! Traveling with a wrapped package in checked or on-board baggage could result in having the presents opened to ensure it meets all safety requirements and does not contain any prohibited items.
