Most anyone would agree that the Golden Gate Bridge is the most iconic landmark in San Francisco. After four years of hard work and $35 million (roughly $570 million after inflation), the 1.7-mile-long bridge connecting the city to Marin County was finished in 1937.
Next weekend, on Sunday, May 27, the Golden Gate Bridge celebrates its 75th anniversary with a free public celebration on the waterfront.
Called the Golden Gate Festival, there will be a variety of activities at Pier 39, the Presidio, Fort Mason, Fisherman’s Wharf and many other locations. A fireworks display at around 9:30 p.m. will conclude the celebration.
Keep an eye out for a San Francisco Bay Area hotel deal and join the fun!
