Get into the Holiday Spirit in San Antonio

San Antonio is a city that has something to do every single day of the year. It hosts festivals, cultural celebrations, conventions, sporting events and is great for the average traveler looking for a romantic or kid-friendly getaway. I truly must say that this walking city completely transforms around the holidays into a fantastic show of lights and holiday spirit.

Having grown up in Texas and going to school in Austin, I have spent many days walking, dining and shopping along the famed River Walk – but this time of year is pretty spectacular.

Some of the standout December San Antonio events include:

• Dec. 3-19 (Friday-Sunday nights): Fiesta de las Luminarias, with more than 6,000 luminarias lining the River Walk on the banks of the San Antonio River
• Dec 3-4, 10-11, 17-18: Caroling Nights with Santa at the Arneson River Theatre in La Villita
• Through Dec. 19: Holiday Boat Caroling. Over 185 local choral groups sing traditional carols on cruising boats
