Fall Foliage Hotel Deals

Friday nights are available for an additional $50.

Lake Geneva, Wis.: Often seen as just a summer spot for travelers, Lake Geneva offers unrivaled views of the changing scenery from the trees near the downtown lake and the resorts set off from diners and shops. A local favorite is the 21-mile Geneva Lake Shore Path, which winds through the towns of Fontana, Williams Bay and Lake Geneva. Stays at a one-bedroom villa in October and November start at $164 per night. The Abbey Resort in Fontana has cut midweek rates to $129 per night.

Northwoods, Wis.: Worth the drive, the Northwoods has long been a favorite escape for those really wanting to get away and disconnect. For two nights in a premium suite, check out the stunning fall shades at the aptly named Four Seasons Resort for $149 (regularly $308). Fall-time activities include hiking, ATV rides, hunting and biking. Miscauno Island is 90 minutes from Green Bay and five hours from Chicago.


Smoky Mountains: Adventures await in the area surrounding the national park, home to 800 miles of hiking trails. The abundance of streams and waterfalls are best seen in fall, with a camera in hand. Stays in Gatlinburg, Tenn., have been discounted to $49 per night on select dates through fall.

Virginia: The state known for its coastal and wooded views, wine trails and sipping spots, and relaxing retreats is offering discounts of as much as 70% this fall. Deals range from Colonial Williamsburg offers with accommodations and park passes to 4-Diamond getaways with holiday availability.
