Do it up in Dubai

Less than a year ago, I jumped on an opportunity to visit Dubai. The home of the tallest building in the world, largest shopping mall ever built, and the world-famous sail-shaped Burj Al Arab luxury hotel.

With all the shopping there is to do in Dubai, this great deal, currently being offered by Qatar Airways for a free kids roundtrip fare for flights in August. This is a savings of $1000.

So what can you do in Dubai with this extra money you’ll be saving?

Catch up on your downhill skiing. You heard right. You may have missed some of our amazing Whistler deals this winter but you can still enjoy indoor skiing at Ski Dubai. Located inside the Mall of the Emirates, Ski Dubai features a 25-story-high indoor mountain with five slopes.

Visit the world’s tallest building. Standing at an astounding 2,717 feet, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa tower is taller than any other manmade structure ever built. The observation deck, located on level 124, is the highlight of a journey through the complex, which includes a multi-media presentation of the exotic history of Dubai.

Speed across the desert dunes. Experience a unique desert safari adventure with one of Dubai’s many 4WD or Hummer Jeep excursions through the desert dunes. Operators will pick you up directly from your hotel. Safari trips are typically followed by a traditional dinner in a desert camp, belly dancing and Arabic coffee.

Dubai is a land of many discoveries. A good tip is to familiarize yourself with the very modern and efficient subway system. Taxiing around Dubai can be expensive. Don’t just stick to the big malls; the outdoor markets (souks) are great to score amazing shopping deals.
