Travelzoo Experience: Niagara Falls Festival of Lights

One of the most coveted perks at Travelzoo is the Travelzoo Experience, in which Deal Experts and other employees take advantage of the same travel, entertainment and local deals we publish to our subscribers and report back on their experience.

Each year, the Falls dons its holiday best during the Festival of Lights, held November – January. More than three million lights adorn 100+ animated Christmas displays on the grounds. But the mainstage act remains the natural wonder itself. Be sure to stick around after dark; from 5 p.m. to midnight each night through January, the water is illuminated by all colors of the rainbow.

This off-peak time on both the Canadian and U.S. sides of Niagara is a great way to see the sights without having to fight for parking spots or space to snap some photos.

Combine views of the Falls with a fun wintertime activity on the festival’s open-air skating rink. Packed with locals and visitors alike, the rink is open through February.

For more information about this year’s festival, from the New Year’s Eve party to the concert series, click here. For rooms in the area, visit Travelzoo’s Canada hotel page. Or stay in nearby Lewiston, N.Y., at the Barton Hill Hotel & Spa with a one-night package discounted more than 45%. This winter, tours of four Niagara-area wineries are now $35 per person -- a savings of nearly 70%.
