How often do you get a second chance? Adam Greenberg, a former Chicago Cubs prospect who was hit by the first major league pitch he saw, gets a second chance at his first at-bat this Tuesday in Miami, the very town where his career nearly ended seven years ago.
Greenberg struggled, suffering vertigo and vision problems as a result of the pitch, and never regained the form that made him a promising prospect. Greenberg persevered, however, playing in the minor leagues with hopes of getting a second shot at the majors. His cause was helped by a social media and documentary campaign called “One at Bat.”
The Marlins signed Greenberg to a one-day contract last week and announced he would get his at-bat in their game versus the New York Mets on Tuesday. Get a deal to see that game and Greenberg’s one at bat.
If you can’t make it to Miami for Greenberg’s feel-good moment, Travelzoo also is featuring a substantial discount on tickets to next week’s series between the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies in D.C. If you’re looking to add some R&R to your Miami experience, check out our 60%-off deal at the Casa Moderna Miami. The swanky hotel is about a 10-minute cab ride from Marlins Park.
