Avoid Summertime Crowds, High Prices in Boston

Boston, one of the nation’s oldest cities, can come with a hefty price tag for visitors. Even though winter can be a chilly time to visit, it’s a good way to avoid the summertime crowds and nab some pretty spectacular deals. In particular we’re excited about the $159-per-night special at the 4-Diamond Fairmont Copley Plaza, one of the most luxurious hotels in town. In addition, find even more ways to save with free activities throughout the city:

  • The Museum of Fine Arts boasts an extensive and impressive collection of more than 450,000 works of art. An adult ticket can run you $20, but head here any Wednesday after 4 p.m. and get in for free.
  • One of the best ways to discover the city is on foot. Download a free audio tour to your iPod and explore at your own pace.
  • The USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world and dates back to 1797. Learn about the history of Old Ironsides by taking a free guided tour.
  • Admire the starry night sky by hitting up Public Open Night at the Boston University Observatory. Take advantage of the telescopes and binoculars most Wednesday evenings, weather permitting and stargaze for free.
